Indigo Bunting

Immature male Indigo Bunting. He has almost reached full Spring plumage at 2 years but not quite. This one won't get to mate this season because it hasn't the full brilliance of older males. He needs to be 2-1/2 to 3 to compete.

Mature male Indigo. Light changes the iridescence of his feathers. (Blinding blue blurred the camera....) These birds define the color "indigo". Not all Indigo Buntings migrate in the Winter.
